Understanding the IAS career Path
When you are looking to become a civil servant and you would like the job you get to include the information on how the governments policies are mad and implemented, then you should start an IAS career path. Here is what is expected from you and how you will progress when you choose this type of career.
You will have to undergo a certain training once you are selected to for the IAS training. You will be taught the foundation which includes the laws and policies as well as completing the required physical activities. You will be involved in this process for a duration of four months. You will then have to spend a few years under probation on a specific region of the country. You will work directly with the government during this time of probation. You will then have to undertake an examination on civil services and pass after this period.
Joining the junior time scale salary range is the next point after you pass the civil service examination. You have to spend at least four years on this category in order to rice to the next rank. After the junior time scale salary range is the senior timescale range where the pay is bigger and also you will be able to get bigger tittles. You will have to spend at least nine years on this level before you can advance to the next stage. After this rank is the junior administrative grade where you get pay rice and additional responsibilities. The period of time in this rank is 12 years after which you move to the selection grade. There are some skills that are required in order to work your way up. You should possess leadership skills. It is advisable that you know more about the people living in the country and the different issues that they are facing and how to deal with them. You should be able to give orders to other people and be able to deal properly with crisis.
This are some of the responsibilities that you will be having. Your position will require you to stand I place of the government and sometimes sign agreements. You will also be required to carry out operations that involve different ministries. When you are required to work in foreign countries, you may have to learn the languages that are used there. Sometimes you will have to work with NGOS and even the word bank.
